About Technological University Dublin

Technological University Dublin  (TU Dublin) is Ireland’s first technological university, established in 2019, taking over all functions and operations of the three preceding institutions; namely, Dublin Institute of Technology, Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown, and Institute of Technology, Tallaght. The amalgamation is now the second-largest third-level institution in Ireland based on a student population of 28,500. This is commendable number as per Ireland university standards.

TU Dublin holds its campuses in Dublin City, Tallaght and Blanchardstown, making them hubs at large population centres in Dublin.  Working on the best attributes of the founding institutes, TU Dublin has expanded its inclusivity and adaptability to cater to students coming in from the far-reaches of the globe. Location and Facilities

As mentioned, the university has three main campuses; Grangegorman (“City Campus”), Blanchardstown, and Tallaght. The Grangegorman campus will complete ongoing relocation of activities at Kevin Street and Cathal Brugha Street, expanding its capacity to 10,000 students, while development is planned for the other two campuses during the formative years of the university, as per the university.

College and School

Technological University Dublin has four academic schools:

  1. College of Engineering & Built Environment
  2. College of Arts & Tourism

The College of Arts and Tourism had been readily catching up with rapidly evolving digital communications field and is abreast with the leading development of newer domains like  communications, creative digital media, design, journalism and tourism. This also ensures that the legacy programs, like culinary arts, drama, fine art, languages, law, social sciences and music, are constantly being updated through the times. Being one of finest there is in Ireland, their reputation has gathered students from various countries pursuing certificate, degree, masters, doctoral and post-doctoral programs. Professional practice has always been at the core of the College’s activities with research and scholarly activity playing a key role – including hosting the Graduate School for Creative Arts and Media (GradCAM).   1. College of Business

TU Dublin College of Business, located at the heart of Dublin city, provides fitting options in teaching and research opportunities for students pursuing in the Ph.D. level and currently, boasts of over 5,000 enrolled students.

Located at Weungier St, just off the corner of St Stephen’s Green, the vast campus provides a fitting environment for learning and research, making it a fundamentally strong educational destination.   1. College of Sciences & Health

The College of Sciences and Health at TU Dublin in City Campus finds itself with 130 years of experience in science and technology education. Their mission to support economic and societal development by providing highly skilled graduates, trained researchers and an up-skilled workforce capable of anticipating and meeting demand in competitive global sectors are breaking boundaries and accelerating the advances in sectors like Food, Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences, ICT, Green Technology, Financial Services, Education and the Allied Health Professions.

Rankings

Ranked 429, by the QS World University Rankings in 2020, the Dublin City university also scored itself the position of  601 by Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2020 amongst various other universities worldwide.

The Dublin City University has been enormously placed in the top 100 universities of the world that are less than 50 years old and has consistently scaled newer heights each time!

The Dublin City University is the only one to be featured in the league table every year since the first rankings were brought to the front.

Technological University Dublin Research Scholarship Programme 2020

Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin) invites applications for the Research Scholarship Programme 2020, the purpose of which is to promote the exploration and application of knowledge. The Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and research proposals should be aligned with the TU Dublin research areas: 

  • Environment, Energy and Health
  • Information, Communications and Media Technologies
  • New Materials and Devices
  • Society, Culture and Enterprise

 Awards will be made on the basis of excellence and subject to funding being available. TU Dublin reserves the right not to award all scholarships.
